Meet Dr. Walker

Hi, I'm Dr. Jill Walker —
and I'm So Glad You're Here.

If you've found your way to this page, chances are you have questions about your child — and you're looking for someone who will truly listen, look carefully, and help you understand what's going on. That's exactly what I'm here for. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, I specialize in understanding how children's brains learn, process information, and develop — and what happens when that process looks a little different.

I completed my doctoral training in Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Alabama including a predoctoral internship at UMass Medical School/Worcester State Hospital with a focus on neuropsychological assessment across the lifespan. I went on to specialize in pediatric neuropsychological assessment by completing a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center where I worked with children and adolescents facing significant academic and developmental challenges, conducting comprehensive evaluations, and coordinating with schools and educational advocates to turn findings into real, meaningful support.

Another area of focus is mTBI (concussion). Having worked as a neuropsychologist at the Concussion Center at Stamford Hospital for the past 10 years, I am expert in the evaluation of concussion as the basis for guiding the appropriate treatment of patients and working to return your child to school and sports as quickly (and more importantly, as safely) as possible.

Now, I'm bringing my expertise, experience, and my deep commitment to children's well-being to my own practice — right here in Fairfield County.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation

A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation includes an extensive assessment of intellectual, neurocognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral skills. These evaluations are crucial tools for identifying strengths and weaknesses, clarifying diagnoses, and providing recommendations for treatment.

For: Children, teens & young adults (ages 6–24) with concerns about learning, attention, memory, behavior, or cognitive development.

Concussion & Traumatic Brain Injury Evaluation

Comprehensive post-injury evaluations to guide safe return to school, activities, and sports. As a specialist in the neurocognitive effects of concussion, Dr. Walker will formulate personalized recommendations and communicate with school staff to limit the negative effects of concussion and help your child maintain their academic standing while recovering from injury.

For: Children, teens, and young adults who sustained a head injury in the past 6 months.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Neuropsychological Assessments
A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of how your child's brain functions — covering intelligence, attention, memory, language, executive function, processing speed, academic skills, and social-emotional development. It uses standardized, validated tests to identify your child's strengths and challenges and answer specific questions such as "Does my child have ADHD?" or "Why is my child struggling to read?"
School evaluations focus on educational eligibility for special education services. A private neuropsychological evaluation is broader, more comprehensive, and diagnostically focused. It can provide a diagnosis, explain the underlying reasons for academic difficulties, and offer specific recommendations for home, school, and clinical treatment.
Precision Neuropsychology is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. We provide a detailed superbill with the appropriate CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider in advance to understand your benefits.
My goal is to get you answers as quickly as possible; ideally, 4–6 weeks from initial contact to final report. However, certain circumstances can delay or accelerate the process including you/your child's busy schedule, delay receiving parent/teacher forms, or unforeseen changes in the scope of the evaluation. I will keep in close communication with you to avoid any surprises.
Precision Neuropsychology serves children, teens, and young adults ages 6 through 24. Dr. Walker has extensive experience across this full age range — from elementary-age children through college students and early-career young adults — and understands the unique developmental and academic pressures at every stage.
Concussion Questions & Answers
A concussion evaluation assesses the neurocognitive effects of a head injury — including memory, processing speed, attention, and reaction time. It helps determine whether your child has fully recovered and guides safe return to school, activities, and sports.
Early identification of concussion is helpful, although I will see patients who were injured within the past year. So as not to over-pathologize symptoms in the immediate aftermath of injury, I will not see a patient for evaluation until 72 hours post-injury.
Return-to-school and return-to-sport decisions should be made carefully and based on objective data, not just how a child feels. Dr. Walker provides evidence-based recommendations for each step of the return process.
Children are often poor judges of their own recovery, and symptoms are not always visible. Subtle cognitive changes — in memory, attention, or processing speed — can persist even when a child feels "normal." An evaluation provides objective data that self-report simply cannot capture, and can prevent more serious injury from returning to activity too soon.
